Networking is a Process, not an Event

Business relationships take time to build, and networking remains the best way to establish, cultivate, and maintain life-long relationships. Here are the principal 8 Rules to be on top of your game when networking.

  1. Have a plan. Know how many and the type of people you want to meet.
  2. Arrive 15 minutes early.
  3. Wear your name tag on your right lapel.
  4. Address people by their name.
  5. Ask questions and sincerely listen. People feel comfortable when a genuine interest is displayed.
  6. Have a Rock Star 30 second commercial. Be prepared to describe your services in a way that intrigues other people.
  7. Ask for permission to follow up.
  8. FOLLOW UP! FOLLOW UP! FOLLOW UP!
